Genesis has confirmed that the 2018 G70 will be unveiled in its home town, Seoul, Korea on 15 September 2017. However, the production ready Genesis G70 has been spotted on public roads ahead of its launch shooting for a television commercial.
The spotted sedan wears a rich blue colour and noticeably large rims with low profile tyres. The Koreans (Genesis officials) also say that the upcoming G70 will debut the family design language called ‘Athletic elegance’.
Inside is a tablet-like display which takes centre stage on the dashboard. Underneath that are knobs to access the climate control of the car – speculated to be a dual zone unit.
The power source of the updated G70 could be a 2.0-litre engine and the top spec variant will see an option of a 3.3-litre V6 engine. The former produces 255bhp and the latter produces 365bhp. Genesis may continue to offer the car with the same 8-speed automatic gear box. Officials say that the 3.3-litre variant of the G70 will be able to do a 0-100kmph run in 4.7 seconds.
Post its launch, the Genesis G70 will rival against the Lexus LS and the dominant Germans of the segment – Mercedes C-class, Audi A4 and the BMW 3 series.
