General Motors has announced that they will showcase the soon-to-be launched Chevrolet Sail sedan at upcoming 2013 Detroit Auto Show. It will stand alongside the Onix, Spin, Trax and the Orlando as the American automaker’s ‘international’ line up (read: cars that will not be sold in America).
The Onix is a hatchback developed specifically for the Brazilian car market. It is offered with either a 1.0 or a 1.4-litre engine and is capable of running on 100 per cent ethanol and is first Chevrolet vehicle outside the US to be offered with its MyLink communication system.
The Spin is a seven-seater MPV manufactured in Indonesia which will go on sale in the Indonesian and Thai markets later this year. The Orlando is also a seven-seater MPV but inclined more towards the crossover side. It is manufactured in South Korea and is on sale in the Korean and Canadian market. The Trax is a compact SUV which debuted at the 2012 Paris Motor Show and is expected to go on sale in over 140 countries (including us) over the course of the year.
Last but not least, the Sail sedan of which we have speaking about regularly as well as posting spy pictures over the last three to four months. Manufactured and developed SAIC, the Sail sedan has been created keeping developing countries in mind and will be sold in places like Chile, Peru, Bolivia, India and its neighbours as well as South Africa.
GM will also unveil the latest iteration of its iconic sportscar the Corvette at the show. The 2014 Corvette, as per the manufacturer, will be powered by an engine produces 455PS and 610Nm of torque.
