General Motors India sold 10,062 units in October 2011 as against 10,051 units during the corresponding period last year. The October 2011 sales were driven by the overwhelming response received by Chevrolet Beat Diesel. Chevrolet Beat has been one of the top performers for GM India this month registering record sales of 5328 units.
Commenting on the performance, Mr. P. Balendran, Vice President, GM India said, “We have been able to sustain the growth primarily due to the good sales of Chevrolet Beat Diesel which continues to be in good demand. Other carlines like Cruze and Tavera have also generated volumes on the expected lines. We are planning to ramp up production of Beat Diesel to meet the growing demand for the product in the coming months. We remain committed to fully leveraging our resources to offer customers across the country best-in-class products and services that meet their unique needs. The market, however, continues to remain sluggish due to unprecedented hikes in interest rates, fuel prices, commodity prices, growing inflation and negative market sentiments. These factors are putting lot of pressure on the automobile market.”
