The Chevrolet Tavera is back for sale in the Indian market, almost four months after its production had been put on hold due to emission issues. Now that it has received the needed regulatory approvals in India, it has resumed production of the Tavera BS III and Tavera BS IV models.
Earlier in July, General Motors had recalled 1.14 lakh units of the Tavera due to issues relating to emission standards and other regulatory specifications. Before that it had stopped the production and sale of BSIII & BSIV versions of the Chevrolet Tavera.
Due to these problems GM sales declined considerably amounting to about 10.71 per cent. Only 6, 575 units were sold. It is likely that if not for the numbers of the Chevrolet Enjoy MPV, which has been enjoying huge demand in the market, the sales figures could have been even lower.
Good sales of this car kept the sales figures from dropping even more. The carmaker was pretty confident that it will resolve all the problems and had announced that it would also resume the production of the Tavera at the earliest. Now with this MPV going on sale, GM expects their sales numbers to go up soon.
