General Motors have doled out a press release in which it has mentioned the introduction of 15 new or upgraded models in the US markets and 17 new or upgraded models in China this year.
GM will begin four additional plants in China through 2015, which will enable it to reach a global production capacity of 5 million units annually. New/refreshed GM models for 2014 list features also includes the Chevrolet Sail.
The Chevrolet Sail is under test in China handled by SAIC-GM a joint-venture between General Motors and SAIC Motor. The refreshed Sail might get a big grille, all-new headlamps, airdams and a premium dashboard design. The redesigned Sail will use the current engine and drivetrains and is being developed in China by GM’s PATAC (Pan Asia Technical Automotive Center).
The Sail is a global product and is available in 16 countries worldwide, the car was launched in India with a hatchback body style in 2012 but failed to achieve the numbers. The package was very good but the competition kept the buyers excited. However, GM might want to change that with the refreshed Sail and might hope to improve its standing further in India.
