General Motors India sold 6,214 units last month – a 14.15 per cent dip from 7,238 units sold in the corresponding month last year. General Motors is not the only manufacturer suffering this November, as sales have been relatively low for all as compared to last year.
Chevrolet’s cumulative sales include 2,151 units of the Beat, 1,347 units of the Tavera and 1,206 units of the Enjoy. The number of sales is not expected to increase before the start of the New Year.
P. Balendran, Vice President, GM India, looking at the low sales said, “As expected, the market has gone down drastically after a small spike during the festive season. Overall, the market continues to remain sluggish due to unfavorable economic conditions and we do not expect any improvement in the coming months. Unless the government offers a stimulus package to the struggling automobile industry, the market is unlikely to see any upturn before a new government assumes office after elections next year.”
