Renault chose the Frankfurt Motor Show to showcase its concept – FRENDZY, which the French manufacturer claims is the fourth step in its design direction that was first showcased in the DeZir concept. In the words of Axel Breun, director of concepts and show car design, Renault, the FRENDZY is supposed to be “efficient and modern as a work tool, yet sporty and welcoming for the family.” And according to Renault only an asymmetric design seemed logical to convey the vehicle’s duality of purpose. So the FRENDZY has no centre pillar and a combination of one conventional door and one sliding door – which also incorporates a 37in widescreen – on the passenger side. On the driver’s side there’s a centre opening door. Powered by an electric motor, the FRENDZY will feature a lithium-ion battery pack and has a peak output of 60bhp and a maximum torque of 226Nm. This helps the FRENDZY reach a top speed of 130kmph.
