Wow! In the two days of the Frankfurt Motor Show 2017, we managed to cover over 40 cars and in terms of model diversity that is a pretty huge thing. These 40 cars included SUVs, sedans and hatchbacks, some coming to India and some not. Well, here then is a list of cars that were showcased and are destined for our Indian shores within the next one year.
Next-generation Maruti Suzuki Swift
The third generation European spec Maruti Suzuki Swift was showcased at Frankfurt 2017. It’s the same car that will come to India in early 2018 both in petrol and diesel guise. The design cues are not expected to change either, save for smaller wheels and badges.
Hyundai Kona
The Hyundai i20based Kona compact SUV is India-bound and will be the South Korean automaker’s answer to the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Honda WR-V and the Mahindra TUV300. Currently there is only a petrol engine on offer, but for markets like India, we can expect a diesel option too.
Audi Q2
The compact luxury SUV segment is growing by leaps and bounds and now has competitors from across the plate. This is the Ingolstadt-based automaker’s rival for the likes of the Mercedes-Benz GLA, BMW X1 and the Jaguar E-Pace.
Honda Jazz facelift
The Honda Jazz facelift comes as a mid-life update for the Big H’s large hatchback. The styling updates are pretty evident and come in the form of new bumpers, tail lamp cluster and a completely restyled boot lid. The cabin too has been updated while the mechanicals remain unchanged.
Next generation Volkswagen Polo
The next generation Volkswagen Polo is India-bound and showcased in its Beats and GTI guise at the Motor show. What we will first get in India is the standard Polo with petrol and diesel engine options as well as an evolutionary design.
Audi A8
The flagship sedan from Audi was showcased as the Prologue concept in 2016 and the production ready version was revealed last year. It is loaded to the gills with new technology but will still be just as luxurious and powerful.
