Smart has revealed its inclinations to participate in the autonomous EV race with its new EQ for Two micro car. With parent company Mercedes-Benz joining in the EV autonomous race, it only seems logical for all the names under it to be a part of the effort. Smart will use the EQ moniker and this is the first car.
At first glance it could be well summed up as one of the cars that you would find running around in the background of a sci-fi movie set in the near future. Zipping along quietly while its two occupants lounge around inside.
The exterior is has been painted in shade of white and the EQ signature blue. The glass area is massive giving you the experience of watching a rather colourful movie as you silently glide along on the tarmac.Â
However, the most fun part of the exterior is the little angry face giving the impression of a very small and serious looking robot. Its looks determined to get its passengers to their destination as quickly as possible.
Step inside and you are greeted by a massive screen that is expected to have high levels of connectivity and provide a similar setup that aircraft entertainment system use. The seats are expected to have a multitude of comfort options.
It is expected to get two electric motors and have a decent range and battery life. It looks likely that the car will be a part of fleet service that will autonomously ferry people around and after dropping them off do a small reset and move on to the next fare.  Â
