Launched in 2013, the Maserati Ghibli has been a big seller for the Italian marquee. What we have here now is the 2018 MY Ghibli which represents the first major update for the sporty four-door sedan.
The most noticeable design tweaks include a chrome treatment up front. The iconic Maserati grille is now done in chrome and there are additional chrome inserts on the bumper vents. The rear bumper gets a blink-and-miss update. Maserati claims that the design tweaks have also “contributed to a substantial improvement of the aerodynamic efficiency”.
The new Ghibli gets adaptive full-LED headlights with glare free ‘matrix high-beam’. Maserati has also fitted it with new ADAS (active driver assistance systems). The Modena-based carmaker says that this driver assist system will allow the carmaker ‘to enter the world of autonomous driving’.
The interior and the mechanicals remain unchanged. Under the hood, you still get two engine options. The 3-litre turbocharged V6 petrol and diesel engines are paired with an 8-speed automatic gearbox.
The new Ghibli shares show floor with the new Granturismo range and the Levante crossover at the Frankfurt Motor Show.
