An all-new generation of the Audi RS4 has finally made its debut at the ongoing Frankfurt Motor Show. Like its predecessors, this high power model has arrived in an estate (Avant, as Audi calls it) form alone. Priced at £61,625 (Rs 52.52 lakhs), the new RS4 Avant packs a 2.9-litre turbo V6 motor.
On the outside, there are massive air inlets with typical RS honeycomb structure and the wide single frame grille. The optional Matrix LED headlights display tinted bezels. Compared to the A4 Avant, the wheel arches are 30mm wider and are given additional emphasis by the quattro blisters.
At the rear end, the RS-specific diffuser insert, the oval tailpipes and the roof edge spoiler make for a distinctive look. The exterior colour Nogaro blue is reminiscent of the first generation of the high-performance Avant from 1999. The car rides on 19-inch forged aluminium wheels as standard, while 20-inch wheels are available as an option.
Gone is the old naturally aspirated V8 and in its place is a V6 bi-turbo developing 450bhp of power and 600Nm of torque – 170Nm more than the previous model. The new RS4 Avant does a 0-100kmph in 4.1 seconds and hits an electronically limited top speed of 250kmph.
All that power is sent to the permanent all-wheel drive via an 8-speed tiptronic with optimised ratios for quicker acceleration. The car is now available to order in the UK with a base price of £61,625 (Rs 52.52 lakhs) and deliveries are expected to begin early next year.
