Frankfurt Motor Show 2009 – Round Up

The giant American auto makers like GM and Daimler, and Japanese manufacturers like Honda, and Nissan didn’t participate in this year’s Frankfurt Motor Show. The main highlights of this event were the Europe-based manufacturers with many of them going green.

    Reva:

The Reva NXG is a sporty two-seater which will go into production in the year 2011. It will have a top speed of 130kph and a range of 200km to a full charge.

The Reva NXR is a four-seat, two-door hatchback family car with production scheduled to commence at the beginning of 2010. The car will run on a Lithium-ion battery and will have a top speed of 104kph and a range of 160km on a full charge.  In India the NXR will be available with a lead acid battery, offering a range of 80km per charge and top speed of 80kph.

    Audi A5 Sportback:

The Audi A5 is similar to the Mercedes CLS. If the A5 makes it to India, it will offer a stylish alternative to the traditional saloons on offer from Audi like the A6 and A8, which tend to err on the side of caution as far as styling is concerned.

    [caption id="attachment_3191" align="alignleft" width="160" caption="Audi R8 Spyder"] Audi R8 Spyder[/caption]

    Audi R8 Spyder:

The Audi R8 Spyder has a 5.2-litre V10 engine and 520bhp. This is more powerful than the R8 4.2 hardtop that is currently on sale in India, and has a few cosmetic changes other than the loss of the roof, which includes a new chrome mesh front grille, shark gills on the engine cover for better cooling and it has lost the dramatic air intake panels from the flanks of the coupe.

    Bentley Mulsanne:

The Mulsanne is a new addition to Bentley’s product list, and is its flagship car. The 'Mulsanne' moniker is a reference to Bentley's heritage at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, where they have won five times. The Mulsanne will be powered by the tweaked Arnage powerplant, though heavily tweaked to bring down emissions.

    Ferrari 458 Italia:

The Ferrari 458 Italia was one of the main highlights of the Frankfurt Motor Show. The 458 Italia is the successor to the F430, and both critics and fans alike have appreciated Ferrari's new design.

    [caption id="attachment_3194" align="alignright" width="160" caption="Fiat Punto Evo"]Fiat Punto Evo[/caption]

    Fiat Punto Evo:

The Punto Evo is a restyled Punto with some 500 touches being added to it, making the already good-looking car even more attractive.

    [caption id="attachment_3195" align="alignleft" width="160" caption="Mazda MX-5 Superlight"]Mazda MX-5 Superlight[/caption]

    Mazda MX-5 Superlight:

The Mazda MX-5 Superlight is probably the last one of its kind - a sports convertible which can be used on daily basis, and manages to put a smile on your face without huge horsepower or a high price tag. The Honda S2000 once shared this space as well.

    [caption id="attachment_3196" align="alignright" width="160" caption="Jaguar XJ"]Jaguar XJ[/caption]

    Jaguar XJ:

Jaguar unveiled its new XJ  at the Frankfurt Motor Show and this car should soon make its way into India, in line with Tata's plans to bring the Jaguar range to India. We also think that it will make the most sense for our country, it being a full-size saloon that pampers the occupant in the rear seat.

    [caption id="attachment_3197" align="alignleft" width="160" caption="Porsche 911 GT3"]Porsche 911 GT3[/caption]

    Porsche 911:

The Porsche displayed the new 911 Turbo, new 911 GT3 RS, new 911 GT3 Cup and the 911 Sport Classic, which is a limited run model, at the Frankfurt Motor Show.

    [caption id="attachment_3199" align="alignright" width="160" caption="Toyota Land Cruiser"]Toyota Landcruiser[/caption]

    Toyota Land Cruiser:

Toyota has updated its Land Cruiser and made a few cosmetic changes. This car will also make its way to Indian shores once it comes into production.
