The pantheon of ultimate performance has got a new deity and this time it is German. More specifically, a deity that has risen from the sacred fields of Affalterbach. Yes, we are talking about the wild and absolutely exotic Project One hypercar from Mercedes-AMG.
It’s the wildest, outlandish and most F1 technology laden car that Mercedes has ever made. In fact, there is so much F1 technology in this car that it actually uses one of the same 1.6-litre turbocharged V6 engines that took Lewis Hamilton to his third Formula One title in 2015. Adding to this brilliance is, of course, two electric motors mounted on the front axles that make this car AWD, with a bank busting output of 1000bhp! The amount of F1 technology underpinning this hyper car is quite unbelievable and you can find a detailed look into the whole package here.
In terms of looks, it’s a mix of the subtlety that defines current Mercedes range but with sufficient sporty bits to make sure you know that it’s the king of the three-pointed jungle. There are heavy hints of the touring car which pay homage to the automaker’s long standing presence in the racing fields of DTM and endurance racing.
The unveiling has also taken the wraps off the interiors of the Project One. It’s a two-seat affair mixed with bits from the F1 car as well as Mercedes racing pedigree interiors. Salient features include dual screens, alacantera, harness style seat belts and of course an F1 spec steering with the shift lights on top.
It’s a limited production model and by our estimates, it had been already sold out by the time the world got to even know that there was such a beautiful creation being made.
