SsangYong revealed the fourth-generation Korando SUV at the ongoing Geneva Motor Show 2019. The five-seat SUV is based on the SIV concept which was last seen at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show with swept back headlights and a large front grille. The company also confirmed its plans to introduce a fully-electric variant in 2020.
The e-SIV concept revealed at last year’s Geneva Motor show featured an 189bhp electric motor that was powered by 61.5kWh battery pack. The concept featured an electric range of up to 450km. The regular variant will be powered by a range of engines which include 1.5 and 1.2-litre petrol units with the mild-hybrid technology and a 1.6-litre diesel engine option.
As for the interior, the new Korando will get premium upholstery and a 10.25-inch LCD instrument display. Moreover, the new model will offer more headroom and rear space for the occupants. As for safety, the new model will be offered with active roll-over protection, lane departure warning system, autonomous emergency braking system, seven airbags (including driver knee airbag), and ABS with EBD among others.
