Toyota’s controversial hybrid offering, the Prius is now in its fourth generation and the latest model has marked its arrival at the 2015 Tokyo Motor Show. The car will eventually go on sale in Japan by the end of this year.
The new Prius has got that typical modern Toyota fascia with sharp creases and a whole lot of angular design cues. However, it’s the love-or-hate appearance of the rear that’s got everybody’s attention. The massive rear screen and the vertically stacked taillights add a lot of drama to the rear-end of the new Prius.
Based on Toyota's new TNGA platform, the Prius is now better equipped, quicker and expectedly, more efficient than the previous model with Toyota claiming a 10 per cent improvement in fuel efficiency. As for the dimensions, the new Prius is 60mm longer, 15mm wider and 20mm lower than the old model.
The new Prius will be sold in Japan first by the end of this year, followed by USA and Europe sometime next year.
