The A8 Luxo-barge is Audi’s technological tour de force which was expected to arrive this year, but the carmaker has delayed it until the first quarter of 2019. The new-gen A8 comes with Level 3 autonomous driving credentials. It also gets the highest level of creature comfort inside the cabin and advanced LED Matrix headlights along with a host of safety equipment that the Ingolstadt-based carmaker has on offer. It has a 48V hybrid powertrain as standard.
Audi also revealed the mid-life update to the A4 last week. It gets a new face with an updated grille and headlamps. It also debuts a new S-Line trim which adds features like 19-inch wheels, sports suspension, lip spoiler and new body paint apart from sporty elements inside the cabin.
The A4 will be joined by the new-gen A6. The fifth-gen A6 is lighter, bigger and more aerodynamic than before. It also gets rear-wheel steering and semi-autonomous driver assistance technology. The A6 will continue its fray with the G30 5 Series and E-Class LWB in India.
Audi took the wraps off the all-new Q8 this year. This is the new flagship SUV from Ingolstadt and sits above the Q7. The Q8 also retains the swanky styling from its concept. It gets the same powertrain options as the Q7 and shares platform with other SUVs under the Volkswagen Group. When launched in India, the Q8 will lock horns with Range Rover Sport, Volkswagen Touareg, Porsche Cayenne, BMW X6 and Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe.
The Ingolstadt-based carmaker also revealed the new A1 supermini and the A7 Sportback internationally. Both of these are unlikely to be launched in India. Audi is also busy testing the R8 and TT facelift. These two models will be revealed later this year and will arrive in India soon. Audi’s all-electric e-tron SUV will be revealed soon and it will be followed by three all-electric models.
