The Fiat 500, as we know, is a lifestyle vehicle carrying a premium price tag – Fiat sells it in limited numbers, but knows that the car has quite a following across the world. To make the most of the success of the 500, the brand decided to make the four-door version back in 2012.
Called the 500L, the vehicle is taller, wider and longer than a regular 500. The car retains the cutesy yet striking looks of the 500 but caters to a segment where the buyers also look for a spacious cabin and a big boot. The 'L' in the 500L stands for Large and rightly so, considering that the former is fairly large: offering 42 per cent more cabin space than the standard 500, in fact.
Launched sometime early last year, the 500L is doing really well for Fiat, with good sales being reported from both the US and the UK. The car was recently spotted here in India by a MotorBeam reader. Seen in Pune wearing red license plates, the 500L could be on its way to the Indian market.
Fiat says that the 500L boasts of MPV-like cabin space and fuel efficiency of a B-Segment car. In addition to comfortable seating for 4 full-size adults, the car features 400-litres worth of boot space. If Fiat India ever decides to bring the 500L to India, expect the vehicle to come in via the CBU route. And if that is to happen, the base price of the 500L could breach the Rs 25 lakh mark.
