Infiniti is quite famous in the motorsport world. It is the name associated with some of the biggest names in Formula 1- Red Bull Racing and Sebastian Vettel. So it comes as no surprise that the company’s new concept car, the Infiniti Q50 Eau Rouge, is inspired from Formula One. It will be unveiled on January 13, the first day of the North American International Auto Show in Detroit.
The car is named after the famous corner at the Formula One track in Spa-Francorchamps, Belgium. The car will feature excellent road-car technology and aerodynamic design elements to make it a thoroughbred motorsport vision. The styling will definitely bear influences of the company’s association with the world of racing. The Q50 Eau Rogue sports a new front air dam and sleek carbon fiber side mirrors, but no word yet on what modifications will be under the hood. The current Q50 delivers 328bhp and 364Nm of torque, so anything higher than these figures is what should be awaiting customers.
Alfonso Albaisa, Infiniti's Executive Design Director, commenting on their latest product said, "Performance is a key pillar of Infiniti's DNA and this car expresses a deepened design interpretation of that. The Q50, with an abundance of technologies, provides a great basis for an extreme performance version, embodied in the design of Q50 Eau Rouge."
Headquartered in Hong Kong, Infiniti is a manufacturer of premium cars, apart from its association with motorsports. The Q50, is currently available in rear or all-wheel-drive and has a starting price of USD 37,050 (Rs 22.82 lakh). Infiniti’s products are not available in India as of now, but Nissan is looking for ways to bring them here.
