Ford India today announced that it would continue to invest in India in a big way by setting its very own Global Technology and Business center in Chennai. With the new campus Ford now will not just make but also research, test, develop and design future products in India. The new center will serve as the hub for product development and mobility services for markets across the globe.
The new center will help Ford extensively test its products in India and also increase decision making speeds. The center in Chennai with an investment of 1300 crores, is the third of its kind in Asia and is spread across a massive 28 acres of land. It will also be home to the 2nd largest IT development center and will cater to app development as well.
Ford has already launched five new vehicles this year and registered a 25 per cent increase in sales and a 40 per cent increase in exports this year. The new center once up is sure to help boost these numbers. Ford aims to hire as many as 3000 new employees over the next five years with the campus expected to be ready by 2019.
