Ford has unveiled the performance version of their mid-size sedan, the Fusion, in the US at the North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) in Detroit. The 2017 facelifted Ford Fusion sport gets the 2.7-litre EcoBoost engine along with a four-wheel-drive.
The Ford Fusion was launched in the US in 2006 and has been a steady seller ever since. The Fusion sedan now gets a 2.7-litre turbocharged EcoBoost petrol engine that develops 325bhp of power and 475Nm of torque. The power is now transferred to all four wheels through a specially tuned six-speed automatic transmission. The Fusion Sport runs on continuously controlled damping suspension and 19-inch alloy wheels. It gets a blacked-out mesh front grille, a rear spoiler and dual exhausts to add to the sportiness.
Ford has also updated the software of their hybrid version, the Fusion Energi. The Fusion line-up also gets the latest version of Ford’s proprietary software – SYNC 3. The Ford Fusion competes with the likes of the Honda Accord and the Toyota Camry globally.
In India, we have had the Ford Mondeo, a previous generation Ford Fusion. While we would be happy to see the D-segment sedan battle it out in India, the chances of the Fusion making it to the Indian shores are almost nil.
