Ford India has unveiled the production version of the EcoSport crossover during an event at the Infiniti Mall in Mumbai. The car that is on display is a Savanah orange top-end Titanium variant with the 1.0-litre Ecoboost engine. Ford has also announced that its Urban Discovery contest is now officially open and that the EcoSport is currently on display till the 17th of March.
This new marketing initiative will see one person get a chance to win a brand new EcoSport by finding an undiscovered a place in their city and showing it to the world. It could be anything from a small temple to a big monument. A total of 35 participants will be selected for the first round, each one will be handed a Ford EcoSport to explore his city with two friends and capture the experience on camera. Out of the 35 participants, the winner will get a brand new Ford EcoSport.
The Ford EcoSport is one of the most highly anticipated products from the American automaker for 2013. It is a sub-four metre crossover and will be powered by the 1.0-litre Ecoboost engine which produces 128bhp and 170Nm of torque as well as the 1.5-litre diesel mill which produces 90bhp, 204Nm of torque and currently sits in the Fiesta sedan. Power will be transmitted to the wheels via a five-speed manual or a six-speed automatic gearbox.
However, if you were here looking for the prices or the launch details of the Ecosport, you will be disappointed once again. Ford is yet to announce launch date of the compact crossover, and we are hoping that the some information will be available by the end of this month. Also there are reports that the compact SUV will be launched in May with deliveries starting early June.
