The Ford EcoSport is now available without a rear-mounted spare wheel for the first time. However, we would like to point out that this design change is available only on the European-spec EcoSport. Here in the Indian market, the compact SUV will continue to sport its spare wheel on the tailgate.
Ford says that the rear swing-gate design has been revised to allow easier access to the boot with partial opening. In terms of design changes, the registration plate has moved up and on to the tailgate and the rear bumper has been revised as well. The instrument cluster now features a light dimming function and chrome-surround rings to match the electric window switches.
Additionally, Ford claims it has also reduced noise, vibration and harshness levels with the help of thicker sound-deadening materials in the doors and dashboard, as well as tighter seals around the pedals.
Ford has also worked on the driving dynamics of the updated EcoSport with a stiffer rear torsion beam and revised damping and a slightly lowered ride height.
Stay tuned for more details as Ford will fully unveil the updated EcoSport soon at the upcoming Frankfurt Motor Show.
