The Shelby GT500 is Ford’s most-powerful Mustang to date. And it is coming sooner than we know it. Ford has released a plan view teaser image of the all-new Shelby GT500 in all its glory.
The teaser image confirms that the large hood of the Mustang will get a newly-designed air vent. It is there to essentially cool down the fire-breathing 5.2-litre supercharged flat-plane-crank V8 which now will be putting out more than 700bhp. Putting all the power to the tarmac could either be Ford’s 10-speed automatic or the rumoured seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.
The GT500 will also feature massively flared haunches for its imposing character. It will be complemented by additional louvres on the fascia with aggressive front splitters. At the rear, there will be a fixed rear wing too. Contrary to the teaser video released sometime ago in which the GT500 was finished in red, the teaser image brings back the signature Shelby blue paint job with dual white racing stripes.
The rear window of the muscle car in the teaser image shows a weird shelf-like seating. However, like all the previous GT500s, this one too will be a strict two-seater.
When it arrives, the all-new Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 will take on the fight against the other highly-tuned muscle cars like the Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 and the Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat. Pricing is expected to be north of 50,000 USD.
