For the first time in its 50 year old history, the Mustang will be sold officially in Ford showrooms across Europe. Available only as a grey-import until recently, the iconic muscle car is now officially available in Europe in both fastback and convertible form.
The European-spec models come with upgraded brakes, HID Xenon headlamps and 19-inch alloy wheels as standard. Inside, the cabin features dual zone climate control and a nine-speaker touch screen infotainment system.
The most popular Mustang model is bound to be the one with the 5-litre naturally aspirated V8 which produces 415hp of power and 530Nm of torque. Paired with a 6-speed manual, the V8 allows the Mustang to accelerate from zero to 100 kmph in 4.8 seconds, making it the quickest vehicle from Ford’s European line-up.
Ford’s famed EcoBoost technology has found its way into the latest generation Mustang in the form of a 2.3-litre, four-cylinder engine producing 312bhp and 433Nm of torque. While the lack of the 3.6-litre V6 mill is bewailed, purists will be more than happy with the Mustang V8.
The Mustang will officially hit the showrooms in the UK starting October this year, with prices ranging between £29,000 (Rs 28.21 lakh) and £33,005 (Rs 32.10 lakh). As for the Indian market, we will probably get the Mustang in the future as a halo product from Ford.
