Ford unveiled the Mustang for India a week ahead of the Auto Expo 2016. The muscle car is on display at the Ford pavilion in Greater Noida and we got up close with it for a detailed exterior photo gallery.
The Mustang is an iconic American muscle car that has been on sale for over 50 years. The design has of coursed changed over the years, but the car has remained the same in essence.
For years, Ford built the car only with left-hand-drive option, which meant it wasn’t available in India and other RHD markets. This one however is different and can be sold anywhere in the world.
This Mustang celebrates 50 years of the brand. It is lower and wider than the previous models, with sleek appearance, which is sort of contemporary.
Part of the grille is the iconic stallion logo. The headlamps keeping with the modern days get LED DRLs and bulge on the bonnet is stylish and also works for pedestrian safety.
The side profile is the best way of looking at the Mustang. The extra-long bonnet, two doors and the sloping roof line, put this one in a league of its own.
Like the front, even the rear section is broad and bulked up. The vertical tail lamps are unique, the black elements create nice contrasts, while the bumper with twin exhaust looks sporty.
The car is just unveiled in India at the moment; the actual launch will be only in the second half of 2016. The Indian version will get the 5.0-litre V8 pumping 437bhp and 540Nm of torque.
There is no direct competition to the Ford Mustang in India. It will carry a price tag of around Rs 75 lakh to Rs 80 lakh and will be imported here as a Completely Built Unit.
