Engineers and designers at Ford have developed a state-of-the-art 10-inch digital instrument display that features text and race-inspired graphics that enhances the overall driving experience and reduces driver distraction. To present information quickly and easily to the driver, the display has been strategically placed on the dashboard.
Ford claims that the digital display is capable of reconfiguring itself based on 5 unique drive modes - from Normal to Track, thereby helping driver getting most relevant information for their situation in easy-to-read format. Speaking about the new technology, Jamal Hameedi, chief engineer, Ford Performance, said, “Driver focus and attention are key with such high performance. We’ve designed the GT with a sleek digital instrument display that changes depending on driving mode in ways that are important and usable to the driver.” The new model gets a sea change as compared to compared to original GT which comes hardwired with fixed set of analog gauges, buttons and knobs.
Ford engineers and designers have collaborated with Pektron (for electronic design, development, implementation and manufacture) and Conjure (for graphical design) to create animated renderings. Moreover, the driver can access five drive modes comfortably without losing focus on the road via the steering wheel-mounted controls.
