Ford India has announced that it has sold 15,775 vehicles in March. During the same month last year, the company managed to sell 11,805 units.
The company hasn’t shared the model-wise sales figures, due to which we really won’t know which cars lead this sales report. For now, the company is majorly focusing on its new plant in Sanand, which was recently shown to us. Spread over 460-acres of area, the Sanand vehicle assembly and engine assembly plant is expected to establish India as their major global manufacturing hub. The integrated facility includes a state-of-the-art vehicle manufacturing facility and a world-class engine plant. The Ford Figo Aspire, a new sub-four-metre compact sedan, will be the first car to roll out from the new plant. The car is scheduled to go on sale later this year.
“With the economic recovery being slower than anticipated and a high interest rate and inflation environment, customers continue to defer their discretionary spends. However, Ford’s faith in India’s long-term growth prospects remains intact. We are continuing to invest in India’s future growth potential. In March, we took our growth commitment in India to a new peak with the inauguration of US $1-billion integrated manufacturing facility at Sanand, Gujarat," said Anurag Mehrotra, executive director, marketing, Ford India.
