Ford India sold 11,935 vehicles in June, riding high on exports and demand for the EcoSport. The numbers show a hike of 36 per cent over the figures of June 2013 when Ford had managed to sell 8,771 units.
In the domestic market Ford sold 7,258 vehicles as compared to 7,145 vehicles in the same period last year, which is a marginal increase. However the exports rose to 4,677 units.
“The Government’s decision to extend the excise duty concession is a welcome move and will certainly uplift consumer purchasing sentiments as we head into the festive season over the next few months,” said Vinay Piparsania, executive director of Marketing, Sales and Service at Ford India. “It reflects the government’s recognition of the importance of the manufacturing sector and its contribution to overall economic growth.”
Ford India is still unable to meet demand for the highly successful EcoSport. The company recently launched the facelifted versions of the Endeavour SUV and the Ford Fiesta. These should have a positive effect on the numbers of the coming months.
