Ford India has once again resumed bookings for its popular crossover, the EcoSport. It had stopped taking bookings for the crossover in January this year due to excess demand but has now resumed bookings and will accept them for all the variants.
The Ford EcoSport was launched for the Indian market on June 26 for an introductory price of Rs 5.59 lakh and since then has changed the fortunes of the American automaker. The sub-four metre compact crossover is available with two petrol engines and one diesel mill. The former comprises a 1.5-litre mill (109bhp/140Nm) and the award-winning 123bhp and 170Nm of torque 1.0-litre Ecoboost mill. The diesel is a 1.5-litre oil burner that produces 90bhp and 204 Nm of torque and has been sourced from the Fiesta sedan. Power is transmitted to the front wheels via a five-speed manual or a six-speed automatic (petrol only). It is the first Ford in India to embody the new kinetic design philosophy.
Commenting on the re-opening of bookings, Vinay Piparsania, executive director of marketing sales and service, said, “Ford India’s game changing SUV EcoSport is aimed squarely at delighting discerning customers in India by offering more than they expect normally. With 50,000 EcoSports delivered, we have significantly reduced the waiting period and are pleased to extend the opportunity to book the Ford EcoSport to more customers.”
