- Ford India sold 97,804 units in the 2018 calendar year, their highest ever domestic sales figure.
- Domestic sales in December was 5,840 units; while the exports stood at 18,580 units.
- Combined sale of 24,420 vehicles in December.
Ford has managed to achieve its highest ever domestic sales figures in a calendar year, selling 97,804 units. The American carmaker also managed to reach the million sales milestone in the country since its entry in the Indian market in 1995.
The domestic sales in the month of December grew to 5,840 vehicles as against 5,087 units in the same month last year. However, exports dropped to 18,580 vehicles as compared to 24,708 units in December 2017.
The Blue Oval recorded a 12 per cent YoY growth in the country selling 97,804 units in the period of January-December 2018 compared to the 87,588 units sold in the corresponding period in 2017. The combined domestic wholesales and exports in the calendar year 2018 grew to 265,714 units from 262,784 units in the previous year.
Commenting on the sales performance, Anurag Mehrotra, president and managing director, Ford India, said, “Despite headwinds due to regulatory and economic changes in India and export markets, we are confident of keeping the momentum in 2019. In India, we are confident of growing better than the industry and bringing many more customers to the Ford fold to experience the promise of transparency and differentiated experience”.
Ford will be launching the updated Figo this year. The Figo facelift will borrow the cosmetic and feature upgrades from the recently updated Aspire. Mechanically, it is expected to be powered by the existing 1.2-litre petrol and a 1.5-litre diesel engine option with reports of a CNG variant as well.
