Ford India has issued a recall for 16,444 EcoSport compact SUVs sold between November 2013 and April 2014 over an issue related to the Rear Twist Beam bolt. The Rear Twist beam is a part of the rear suspension setup and can affect the handling of the car.
Ford India, in the media release, say that there is a possibility where the pivot bolt for the ream twist beam may not be tightened to the recommended specification and as a result may break under stress. The failure of this component may compromise vehicle handling which may lead to mishaps. Ford India further says that this is a proactive voluntary action and no accidents related to this issue have been reported.
Ford will communicate to the all the affected customers to approach the nearest service centre to get their vehicle checked and repaired at the company’s expense.
