Ford India announced that they will no longer be producing the Ikon. The car which was introduced in the 1999 will no longer be produced in the company's Chennai Plant. The Ikon boosted Ford India's sales and went on to become the company's hottest selling product then.
The production of the BS-IV variant had already been ceased last year and the BS-III variant was still available in the Tier II and Tier III cities. The decision might be the outcome of the Figo sales in the country and also the company's intentions to launch the all-new Fiesta in the Indian Market later this year.
