Despite booming demand for the EcoSport, Ford India has only managed to maintain sales numbers this month as compared to the same period last year. The company has recorded a growth of seven per cent in cumulative sales of which exports have contributed a significant number.
Last year this month the company registered impressive sales figures for the Figo and the Fiesta Classic. Both cars have been in a gradual decline over the last few months and this drop has been compensated by the sales of the EcoSport. The crossover has experienced a steady growth ever since its launch three months ago and has also led to 200 plus days of waiting period for a number of its variants.
Ford is likely to facelift for the Fiesta and the Figo for the Indian market sometime next year. This will help them improve the figures but for now Ford has focused on improving the export capacity along with the production of EcoSport possibly due to the lethargy of the market and the depreciating value of the rupee.
