Is Ford planning a turbocharged punch to its competitors at the upcoming 2015 Detroit Motor Show with an EcoBoostpowered limited edition Ford GT? Well, rumours indicate that it might and about 1,200 copies of this machine will be made and it would make its debut in a production ready form.
American sportscars are all about naturally aspirated, big block V8 engines with colossal torque output. The new GT might just defy this theory by being the first sportscar from the blue oval by using a turbocharged engine in a V6 layout. Details are scarce, but this engine might have an output of around 600bhp. This new development might even give Ford some bragging rights for its award-winning EcoBoost technology.
While there were a few muscle cars that used a supercharger to provide additional power, the GT might be the second to use a turbocharged engine. While the new Mustang uses EcoBoostpower it gets a four-pot motor instead. We are all excited to know more about the new Ford GT with an EcoBoost, are you? Then watch this space.
