A full electric SUV with a range of over 400kms from Ford is expected to debut in 2020. This model is expected to be priced in an affordable range and will make its debut a full year before Ford takes the wraps off its autonomous driving concept car.
The company has hinted that for volumes to grow in the electric vehicle segment, it would have to make the cars affordable so that it would be able to reach out to a wider audience. This all electric crossover is expected to be the first vehicle in that line of cars and will also be the base for future autonomous concepts as well as vehicles for ride sharing programs which Ford is investing heavily in.
Ford had hinted at a range of around 485km for this electric crossover, but it is now believed to have surpassed even that number. To put that distance into perspective, it is equivalent of what a B-segment diesel hatchback can offer on a full tank today.
