Ford will launch the new Figo hatchback for the Indian market, tomorrow, at an event in Delhi. The new hatchback will replace the current Figo and will compete with the Maruti Suzuki Swift and Hyundai Grand i10.
In terms of looks, the design is carried over from the Figo Aspire. The front fascia boasts of an Aston Martin-like grille and the car's shape is the same as the compact sedan till the C-pillar. However, for this hatchback, the C-pillar is more tapered and the car gets a wedge-shaped hatch door. The rear features wraparound tail lamps and a muscular bumper.
The cabin of the Figo looks modern and is packed with many new features and storage spaces. The sporty all-black dashboard design is similar to that of the Aspire and it still sports the three-spoke multifunction steering wheel with silver accents. The centre console is finished in silver colour and is equipped with a music system featuring a SYNC 2.0 display. The seat fabrics will get a dual-tone black colour with contrast stitching.
The new Ford Figo hatchback will be offered in the Indian market with two petrol engine options and one diesel variant. The oil-burner will be powered by a 1.5-litre TDCi mill that churns out 100bhp of power and 215Nm of torque. There will also be a 1.2-litre TiVCT engine that produces 88bhp of power and 112Nm of torque. Both these engines will come mated to a five-speed manual gearbox. The third engine option is the 1.5-litre TiVCT petrol unit that delivers 112bhp of power and 136Nm of torque, making it the most powerful sub-four-metre hatchback in India. This powerplant comes mated to an automatic DCT gearbox, which is offered with the Figo Aspire.
The Ford Figo is manufactured in India and will go on sale tomorrow through Ford dealerships in our country and will retail alongside the Aspire sedan. We expect a competitive pricing for the product, slotting it a notch above its competition.
