- The Figo facelift is the second major launch for Ford in India in 2019.
- Will get updated fascia with a revamped interior.
- The powertrain will see the addition of the new Dragon engine along with a CNG option for the first time.
Ford India will be launching the new and updated Figo hatchback in India next month. The facelift for the B-segment hatchback is long overdue, having soldiered on without an update since 2015. The Figo facelift will get a redesigned exterior styling along with a revamped interior. But the major changes will be under the hood where the new Dragon family engine will make its way along with the CNG option.
The Figo has already received an upgrade in the international market where it is called the Ka. Styling wise, the new Figo will receive changes similar to the Ka and the Freestyle. There will be a new honeycomb mesh grille with redesigned bumpers both fore and aft. The fog-lamp design will be cued directly from the new Freestyle. Apart from that, we also expect it to have a new headlight and taillight lighting signature and some freshly designed alloy wheels.
The major change for the Figo will be on the inside with the addition of the new 6.5-inch floating touchscreen with Ford’s SYNC3 infotainment system. The same system debuted in the EcoSport and Freestyle and is also present in the recently updated Aspire. The rest of the cabin will follow a single tone finish contrary to the Freestyle’s dual tone layout along with a better features list compared to the current car. The hatchback is also expected to get revised upholstery and added safety equipment as well.
Under the hood of the refreshed Figo will be a new petrol engine from the Dragon family. This will be the same 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol engine which does duties in the Freestyle and the Aspire. Meanwhile, the oil burner will be the same 1.5-litre TDCi. Both engines will come mated to a five-speed manual gearbox as standard. The automatic transmission is only available with the petrol motor and will be offered with the new engine as well. On the other hand, for the very first time, there will be a CNG option with the Figo. This will be the same system as the recently launched Aspire CNG.
When launched, the prices of the Ford Figo facelift will be on par with the current model. It will continue its competition with its direct rivals, namely Maruti Suzuki Swift and Hyundai Grand i10.
