–First major update for the Ford Figo after 2016.
–To get a new petrol engine along with added features.
–Will be available across three trims with prices expected to remain on par with the outgoing model.
Ford India will launch the updated Figo in the country on 15 March. This will be the first major update for the B-segment hatchback since 2016. The Blue Oval hatchback will receive subtle cosmetic changes along with new petrol engine options and added features.
The updated Figo gets a new honeycomb mesh grille with redesigned front and rear bumpers. The fog-lamp design is cued directly from the Freestyle and the facelifted Aspire. At the rear, there are additional black inserts on the redesigned bumpers. Apart from that, we also expect freshly designed alloy wheels to be part of the update. There will be new exterior paint as well as dual tone options with the new Figo.
The most prominent change on the inside is expected to be the new 6.5-inch floating touchscreen with Ford’s SYNC3 infotainment system. The rest of the cabin will carry a single tone finish, in contrast to the Freestyle’s dual tone layout along with added features.
Under the hood, the new petrol engines from the Dragon family will make its way under the hood of the refreshed Figo. This will be the 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol engine making 96bhp which also does duty in the Aspire. Meanwhile, the oil burner will be the same 1.5-litre TDCi. Both engines will come mated to a five-speed manual gearbox as standard. The automatic transmission, on the other hand, will be a torque converter from the EcoSport and will be available only with the top-spec variant, mated to the bigger 123bhp 1.5-litre motor.
A CNG variant of the Figo is under consideration for the very first time. There has been no official word from Ford on the Figo CNG variant yet but a test mule was already spotted testing a few months back and Ford already offers a CNG option with the Aspire. The CNG option might not be available at the launch but will be added at a later date.
The prices of the updated Figo are expected to on par or a tad higher than the model it replaces. It will continue to go up against the likes of Maruti Suzuki Swift, Hyundai Grand i10 and Fiat Punto Evo.
