The Ford Figo Aspire compact sedan will be launched for the Indian market at a function in Delhi tomorrow. This new compact sedan will be offered in nine variants across four trim levels and in seven colour options.
In the front, the Figo Aspire gets Ford’s new hexagonal grille, swept back headlights and prominent muscular bulge on the bonnet. The side is however dominated by a strong shoulder line and flared wheel arches that give further strength to its appearance. At the back, Ford has basically shortened the boot but retained the design we saw on the Brazilian-spec Ka+ sedan.
It is available with three engine options: A 1.2-litre petrol that produces 86bhp/112Nm, a 1.5-litre diesel that produces 98bhp/215Nm and finally a 1.5-litre petrol unit that produces 110bhp/136Nm. The 1.2-litre petrol and 1.5-litre diesel will be offered with a five-speed MT while the 1.5-litre petrol gets a segment first six-speed dual clutch AT.
The 1.2-litre petrol engine variants will be offered in the Ambiente, Trend and Titanium variants. The top-spec variants across all three engine options get a two-toned interior trim, Ford SYNC system, all four power windows, electrically adjustable ORVMs with integrated indicators and AC. On the safety front, the 1.2-litre petrol and 1.5-litre petrol AT get two airbags while the 1.5-litre diesel gets a segment-first six airbags.
The Figo Aspire is Ford’s entry into the highly competitive compact sedan segment where it will rival the likes of the Hyundai Xcent, Honda Amaze and the Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire.
