The Ford Fiesta facelift was spotted testing again near Ford’s factory in Chennai. The refreshed car making continuous rounds off late makes us believe the carmaker might be preparing for the launch of the vehicle.
The 2014 Ford Fiesta comes with cosmetic changes and some additional features in the cabin. Ford will add a new Copper Pulse colour to the existing colours. The revamped vehicle’s fascia boasts of a large, chrome garnished Aston Martin-esque looking grille which borrows traits from the EcoSport. The facelifted car also gets angular headlamps, redesigned bumpers and fog lamp housings. From the rear aredesigned tail lamp cluster, a new bootlid and bumper with a chrome inserts and claddings are clearly visible.
The revision in the interiors includes the new piano black centre console, high-gloss finish for the instrument panel and a redesigned steering wheel. Instead of chrome accents on the centre console seen in the present Fiesta, the car will get these painted in black. The cabin features are updated with an improved SYNC system, App Link, automatic headlights and wipers as well as a start-stop button for the top-end variants.
The new Ford Fiesta is expected to be powered by the same set of engine options that the current Fiesta is available with. This means it gets a 1.5-lite petrol and diesel engine. The five-speed manual transmission will be carried over to all models. An automatic variant will be offered in the petrol spec.
Ford exhibited the 2014 variant of the Ford Fiesta at the 2014 Auto Expo this February. The manufacturer did not reveal any plans or dates for the launch of the new model in the Indian market. Nevertheless, Ford recently added the new facelifted Fiesta on their website hinting that the launch might be on the cards. We expect and hope that the carmaker brings the facelifted Fiesta in the Indian market with an aggressive pricing making it compete with the Volkswagen Vento, Renault Scala, Fiat Linea and Nissan Sunny.
