Ford unveiled the 2014 variant of the Ford Fiesta at the recently concluded Auto Expo. This model was spotted testing down south, in Chennai, recently.
The images of the vehicle sighted testing do not show all the details of the car with no pictures of the front profile available. But the new Copper Pulse colour confirms that this is the facelifted variant of the Ford Fiesta. The revised car will have an Aston Martin-esque looking grille and borrows traits from the EcoSport.
The car will feature a redesigned bumper, fog lamp housings and bonnet. Angular tail lamps and a revised bumper can be seen at the back. The outgoing car has chrome accents on the centre console which are painted black in this model. The 2014 variant also boasts of a redesigned steering wheel.
The 2014 Ford Fiesta will be powered by the same set of engine options the current Fiesta is equipped with. There were speculations that the 1.0-litre EcoBoost engine from the EcoSport will power the new Fiesta, but, these changes will most likely not happen. This means the 1.5-litre petrol engine and the the 1.5-litre diesel engine will be seen under the hood of the petrol and diesel variants respectively. The engines will be mated to a five-speed manual gearbox with the petrol trim getting an automatic transmission.
We can expect Ford to launch the car this year. The current Ford Fiesta struggled to have a firm foothold in the Indian car market due to its wrong pricing strategy when launched. We hope the new Fiesta makes its presence felt this time around with an aggressive pricing and a new global design.
