At present, the Ford Fiesta facelift is available only as a diesel variant and it comes mated to a five-speed manual transmission. Now, from the spyshots seen here, the new Fiesta facelift that was launched last year gets an automatic transmission, hinting that Ford might launch this automatic model soon.
This might be the same six-speed DCT (dual-clutch transmission) that was seen on the pre-facelift model. In this case, the six-speed DCT was mated to the 1.5-litre petrol engine and if this happens, it would mean the relaunch of the ‘Powershift’ model by Ford. The Fiesta Powershift should then be powered by the 1.5-litre four-cylinder petrol mill that produces 112bhp of power and 140Nm of torque.
With the comeback of the automatic model of the Ford Fiesta, the sedan will compete with the Maruti Ciaz AT, Honda City CVT, Hyundai Verna AT and even the VW Vento TSI. It would be interesting to see as the manufacturer also plans to introduce this six-speed DCT in their upcoming first compact sedan - the Figo Aspire.
