Ford is expected to launch four models for the Indian market this year. Out of this list we already know three cars which are the Figo Aspire sedan, Figo hatchback and the next generation Endeavour SUV. The fourth car is expected to be the Mustang Coupe which is being produced in RHD guise under the ‘One Ford’ programme’ for the first time in its 51- year history.
The Figo Aspire was unveiled recently when Ford inaugurated its Sanand plant and is expected to be launched later this year. The Figo hatchback, needless to say, will pretty much be the same as the compact sedan minus the boot. They are expected to be offered with two petrol engines and one diesel which will be the 1.5-litre four-cylinder unit from the Fiesta and EcoSport.
The new Endeavour was unveiled last year and is already on sale in a lot of Asian markets including China. It will slot back into the same position as the current SUV and will be offered with at least two diesel engines as well as transmission options.
The Mustang will be Ford’s new halo product and will come to the Indian market via the CBU route in limited numbers. The car was unveiled in 2014 and we are expected to get the 2016 model with the 3.7-litre V6 mill as well the all-American 5.8-litre supercharged V8 mill.
However, in addition to this we also suspect that Ford may spring a surprise in the form of the B-Max MPV. It will be offered with multiple engines and at least three variants of both petrol and diesel variety.
