The high bonnet line, heavy plastic cladding and the tailgate mounted spare wheel are some of the EcoSport’s design highlights which successfully enhance the compact SUV’s road presence. Ford, however, could be on its way to ditch the tailgate mounted spare wheel, as seen in these new spy shots of the vehicle, thanks to World Car Fans.
According to the report, omission of the spare wheel will enable a cleaner design for the rear-end of the vehicle. However, it is not known whether Ford will take off the spare wheel from all versions of the EcoSport which is sold in a number of markets worldwide. The camouflage can be seen extended right till the bottom of the bumper, which means Ford could mildly revise the rear bumper design as well.
One of the major selling points of the EcoSport is the way it looks. With its rugged yet contemporary design, the vehicle gives an impression of a much bigger model and the tailgate mounted spare wheel contributes heavily in leaving a good impression. Without the spare wheel, the EcoSport surely will benefit from a cleaner rear design though we are not sure how buyers here in the Indian market would react to such an update.
