The compact SUV segment has been getting hotter with the arrival of each new product. In this article, we get you the exclusive real-world fuel efficiency figures of the top five compact SUV’s in the market. These products include the diesel manual variants of the Ford EcoSport, Tata Nexon, Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Mahindra XUV300 and the Hyundai Venue.
How we conducted the fuel efficiency test
To calculate the real world fuel efficiency of the aforementioned vehicles, we have driven the cars on a designated route. This route and the testing process is followed and repeated consistently for every car. The following are the tested city and highway fuel efficiency figures for all five models.
City fuel efficiency
Inside the city, the Mahindra XUV300 delivered an average of 13.76 kmpl. The Hyundai Venue returned a fuel economy of 15.26 kmpl while the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza gave us an efficiency of 14.1 kmpl. The Nexon and EcoSport returned 13.9 kmpl and 13.8 kmpl respectively.
Highway fuel efficiency
On the highway, the Hyundai Venue had an average of 19.46 kmpl. The Mahindra XUV300 gave us a fuel economy of 19.11 kmpl while the Maruti Vitara Brezza gave an average of 19.1 kmpl. The Ford EcoSport and Tata Nexon delivered a fuel efficiency of 18.8 kmpl and 18.7 kmpl respectively.
