Now that the production ready version of the EcoSport is revealed, there are few who are saying that the compact crossover looks really tiny in flesh. At times it is difficult to gauge the size of a car unless visually compared it familiar vehicles – so here is a photo of the new sub-four meter Ford in comparison with the Volkswagen Polo and Maruti Swift.
First the numbers- the Polo slots in at 1.45 meters in height, the Swift is 1.53 meters while the Xylo is 1.85 meters. The Brazilian spec EcoSport is 1.69 meters high while the Chinese get the EcoSport in two different heights 1.63 meters and 1.65 meters leading us to believe that the Indian model is also of a different height and that is seemingly evident from the pictures. Also for those looking to compare the EcoSport with its main rival, the Renault Duster (1.69 meters), here is the link to our previous story with both the cars in the same frame.
The car that has been spotted is a top-end Titanium diesel variant that is powered by a 1.5-litre oil burner. This engine produces 90PS and 204Nm of torque. Power will be transmitted to the front wheels via a five-speed manual gearbox. The India spec EcoSport will also get the three cylinder 1.0-litre Ecoboost petrol engine that produces 120PS and 173Nm of torque.
The India spec EcoSport is a sub four metre crossover and will be the American automakers entry into the rapidly expanding segment. The vehicle was officially unveiled by Ford on March 15 and looks set for a June launch. We are as excited about the car as everyone and can’t wait to get our hand on one, so stay tuned to CarWale as we will bring you all the details once they emerge.
