Ford India will launch their long-awaited EcoSport facelift in the country on 9 November. The compact crossover has been spotted with and without camouflage on various occasions. The refreshed EcoSport will debut a new engine and many other features upon its arrival. Here are a few things to expect from the impending Ford EcoSport facelift:
The upcoming facelift EcoSport will be available in the exising five variants – Ambiente, Trend, Trend+, Titanium and Titanium+. There will be a host of cosmetic and equipment update apart from an all-new engine. The new EcoSport will debut the newly-developed 1,497cc Dragon engine. The naturally-aspirated three-pot petrol motor produces 120bhp at 6,500rpm and a max torque of 150Nm at 4,500rpm.You can read more about this new Dragon engine over here. The oil-burner, on the other hand, would be the same 100bhp 1.5-litre turbocharged diesel. Both the engines will come mated to a five-speed manual transmission, but the new petrol motor will also get an optional six-speed automatic in the Titanium trim. There are no details available at the moment regarding the 1.0-litre Ecoboost engine in the facelifted model.
Appearance wise, the facelift adds a new grille along with redesigned headlamps to the new EcoSport. The headlamps will feature projector units with LED daytime-running-lights. The fog lamps are now larger as well. The American carmaker will offer new exterior colours like the blue and red apart from the two-tone body colour.
On the inside, the new and updated EcoSport will get a new infotainment system. There will either be a 6.5-inch or an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system depending on the trim level. The infotainment screen is mounted atop the centre console. It will have Ford’s new SYNC3 support system apart from smartphone integration. The petrol-automatic variant will have paddle shifters mounted behind the steering wheel.
Ford will offer an automatic climate control, ISOFIX, automatic headlamps, glove box illumination, cruise control, rain sensing wipers and tyre pressure monitoring system on the top-of-the-line Titanium+ variant. Moreover, the top-spec will also come with hill start assist, ESC and traction control. Even the base variant of the new EcoSport will have two airbags (driver and front passenger) as standard along with ABS and EBD.
The prices for the facelifted EcoSport will be slightly higher than the current car. We expect the pricing to be between Rs 7-11 lakhs (ex-showroom Delhi). Upon launch, the updated EcoSport will continue its fray with the likes of Maruti Vitara Brezza, Honda WR-V, Mahindra TUV300 and the recently launched Tata Nexon.
