Sales have dipped to 7,816 units in the month of July for the American carmaker Ford in India. Compared to the post-GST sale of 8,418 units in July last year, the sales have dipped by over seven per cent. Exports have remained fairly consistent with 17,212 units shipped last month as compared to the 17,657 units in July 2017.
Ford has been banking on its compact SUV, the Ecosport, to lead its charge and the sub-4m car has been leading the charge with all its might. Ford has also launched the new Freestyle crossover hatchback which has been contributing towards sales along with the flagship Endeavour SUV. In the wake of the transport strike, production as well as dispatch of units have been marred in July leading to the dip in overall sales.
Ford is all set to launch the updated version of the Figo hatchback and the Aspire sedan in the months to come and that should help the carmaker revive its numbers in the festive season.
