The Ford Figo and Aspire sales tanked in July by more than 50 per cent and Ford has reacted quickly announcing a price cut for both these cars with the Figo getting cheaper by half a lakh and the Aspire prices being slashed by Rs 90,000. This is the second price cut announced by Ford after they slashed the EcoSport prices by more than a lakh earlier this year.
Top-spec variant of the Ford Aspire, the Titanium+ now priced at Rs 7.9 lakh and Rs 6.8 lakh for the diesel and the petrol respectively, Rs 65,000 less than their previous price tags (all prices ex-showroom, Delhi). The Titanium trim gets the highest price cut of Rs 91,000, down to Rs 7.09 lakh for the diesel and Rs 5.99 lakh for the petrol. The Trend variants have also received a Rs 25,000 price cut for both the petrol and the diesel Aspire.
The new Ford Figo Titanium+ diesel top-spec variant has been reduced by Rs 50,000 to Rs 7,17,750 while the Titanium will now cost Rs 6.53 lakh, also half a lakh cheaper. The top-spec Figo petrol is priced at Rs 6.28 lakh, Rs 30,000 less, while the Titanium trim will now cost Rs 5.65 lakh, Rs 29,000 less. The prices of the Ambiente and the Trend variants have been left untouched.
The Figo is now the second most expensive hatch in its segment and offers six airbags, good dynamics and sturdy build quality as compared to its Japanese counterparts. Offering a similar package and 359 litres of boot space, the Aspire which was priced at a premium over its competition will now have an edge. The reduced prices have brought the Ford Figo and the Aspire closer to the competition. The new competitive pricing should help Ford revive the sales of their small cars with much improved value for money proposition.
