The 2018 Ford EcoSport has been spotted testing in India again. The two test mules of an India-spec car and a US-spec car were photographed while undergoing trials in Chennai.
While the EcoSport has been on sale in India for quite some time now, this will be the first EcoSport model to be introduced in the US market. The car features styling revision for the front and rear bumper, trapezoidal front grille, LED DRLs for the headlamps and redesigned tail lamps. It now rides on new alloy wheels, 16-inch ones for the India-spec car and 17-inchers for the US-spec car. The India-spec car also gets a tailgate-mounted spare wheel, while the US-spec model misses out on this.Â
There are comprehensive updates for the interior too. The dashboard gets a new design, and so does the steering wheel. It gets an updated infotainment system with a touchscreen display. Under the hood, there won’t be any change for the powertrain options. It gets a 1.0-litre EcoBoost three-cylinder petrol, 1.5-litre Ti-VCT four-cylinder petrol and a 1.5-litre TDCi diesel engine.Â
Ford had launched the EcoSport Platinum Edition priced at Rs 10.39 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), earlier this year. So, it might be a while before the new 2018 goes on sale here. We expect the new EcoSport to be launched here by the end of this year or early 2018.Â
